Discovery Gateway

Last week ( I think it was) we went to the Discovery Gateway in Salt Lake.

I seldom venture to cool places like this without a partner in crime and my sis-in-law Christy and her 3 crazy boys are usually the ones brave enough to join us. Probably because we are both "enjoying" a similar journey raising all boys all the same ages. (psst... she is also pregnant with her 4th boy... see... she's crazy too!)

Anyway, we had never been and I was excited to try it out.

Well, I was impressed from the moment we walked in.

One of the first things that Tracen and Sammy found was the gigantic xylophone. I am sad I didn't get any pictures of this or better yet a video clip. They, with some help, figured out how to play the theme song to Harry Potter. I was impressed!

Tate and Zeke found a favorite spot right at the start.

Then it was time to play house!

And what a cute house it was. Oh and cute boys too!

Tyler and Riley found some good solid work to keep them busy.

I love it when Tyler puts on a hat, of any sort. His ears are seriously THE BEST!

Tracen and Sammy were a bit more "money" minded and headed to the Store.

Where they found success in seeing just how much they could actually stack on the scale before it tipped over.

Tate found a cozy spot in the bird's nest.

No those are not sweat rings, he just had a really great time in the water.

This was a favorite spot too.

I was amazed with how many different inventions they came up with.

Tate was mesmerized!

Then there was the climbing wall!

Where they each had to show of their skills.

We ate lunch out on the helicopter pad and they each took a ride!

I think they may have spent the most time in the sandbox.

They each stuffed their shirts so full of sand and loudly announced that they were pregnant! Then when it was time to go... they, even LOUDER, announced that they had each delivered a baby. You'd think their mothers were pregnant or something!

It took us another 20 or so minutes just to make it back to the front doors. Even with the bribe of ice cream they just couldn't help themselves. So many fantastic things to do.

I confess I was more than ready to head home afterwards. Spending 4 hours at the museum and 1 hour ordering and eating ice cream, can really wear a mom out!!

Totally worth it though!!!!

Father's Day!

Because Father's Day weekend was to be very full celebrating our dads, the boys and I decided to celebrate Dan the Friday before. So when he got home from work, he was greeted with homemade cards and banners as well as a scrumptious dinner on the table of his favorite enchiladas, Spanish rice, re fried beans, and salad. All made from scratch of course. We all said our favorite things about dad and then reminded him of the Father's Day gift he purchased for himself a few weeks back. He got himself an ipod alarm clock with the grandiose idea of waking up to the sound of birds chirping or rain falling. Love the ipod clock, but because there has been no waking to chirping birds, he quickly changed it to a favorite 80's classic.

We then celebrated my side of the family over at my aunt and uncle's place. We had tasty BBQ fare and I made a "Better Than Sex Cake" for dessert. Fitting I thought. :)

My siblings and I gave my dad a grilling apron with all the grand kids hand prints on it.

And I made my dad and my grandpa some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies and wrapped them up like this:

My family also got together and started an Annual Father's Day Competition to be held every year! Because the guys in this family are so darn competitive it works great!

It is a timed competition where each guy must complete a few "fatherly tasks". This year the tasks went as follows:

*change a "poopy diaper" (peanut butter in a diaper on a plastic doll)

*make a bed

*dress a child in full snow clothes

*make, eat, and clean up a peanut butter sandwich

*tie a tie on a child

All is timed and all must be completed to the approval of the mother supervising each station.

Awards went as follows:

*Best Bum Licker: My Dad (yes, he licked the dolls bum clean)

*Nicest to the children involved: Shane (my youngest brother with no children yet)

*Smoothest tie: Brian (not to mention the sweatiest)

*Most particular: Dan (of course he was- I am his wife remember)

*Best overall time: Ty - in which he won the "Annual Father of the Year" Trophy!!!!

This trophy will proudly be displayed in the winner's home until next years competition where it will be given to the new winner!

Hogle Zoo

The first week out of school in June (yes, I am just now posting it) we headed to

HOGLE ZOO!

We went with the other 3 Jacob's boys and had a wonderful time.
